If a football player is a free agent, I.E he has been released by his club.?
Does that mean that he can sign for any club, even when the transfer window has closed. To clarify, i am talking about proper football aka soccer.

Yes if a player is a free agent he can sign for a club outside the transfer window.

As far as I know they can sign for any club after the window has closed, but can only play for two clubs in one season (unless they go to Liverpool, obviously). I have heard something about a free transfer deadline, but can't find anything from The FA...

Yes, he can, the transfer window is for players who are under contract, just coming to the end of their contracts, or are free agents.
Outside of the transfer windows (Summer and January) only free agents can be signed. |
