I agree that working on night shifts is not much feasible for women. whether the society is educated or not, whether decent or not but the element of risk is always there. Its not specific to India rather true for America as well.

If the place were secured why not i think its safe for them to work, but if it the place were the nesting grounds of criminals then even men were not safe.

That actually depends on the location. Some prefer working in night shifts to avoid the hot weather.
