RE: Obama is winning
I'm wondering though if his cabinet will be bringing much change to Washington...you can't help but wonder how things can really change all that much when the same people continue to serve, just in different terms.

Yeah, he's honest about that too in his speeches. He's said that he's hoping we will see lasting change by the end of his term, or at the beginning of the next one.

I think it's good to be upfront about that and not lead people on to believe that change can be instant.

I think defining what kind of change he wants would help a lot of people to understand what exactly his plans are for office. The vagueness is both what helped him and could potentially hurt him. Eventually people are going to start wondering where this "change" is, and if the best answer he can give is that "it can't be instant, or takes time" then we will all know that we've been had.

RE: Obama is winning
Right, the vagueness was much easier to market than a list of specifics which could be scrutinized more easily. A lot of people are still hopeful without knowing exactly what it is they are hoping for, but we'll see if he changes that when he takes office. I can see that there are reasons to not be too specific before taking office, for one thing you want to make sure you have the full picture and are current before deciding exactly what to do.

RE: Obama is winning
I think it will be too much to expect big changes immediately. Obama has to sit and decide what change is practical and what changes the Americans want. Do they want any change in the political scenario? Howmany Americans would bother about the plight of the people in Gaza and about the ruthlessness of Israel? How many of them would really hope for a good solution to American policing all over the world? I think the only change they voted for is a greater economic growth, more jobs and a better life. I wonder if they are bothered about the greater role US can play for promoting world peace. I think Obama's hand will be really tied.

Its a very badness time for any president to start. He has lot of things to do now. The financial crisis will be the biggest consequence for him as a president.
